dealhead integrates with iManage Cloud to automatically synchronize Project documents to your Organization's Document Management System. As documents are uploaded, negotiated, executed, and managed within a dealhead Project, they are archived to a designated workspace in your iManage environment. This preserves your firm's matter-centric filing structure and document governance requirements.
This guide provides your IT team with a conceptual overview of how the integration works, who is involved in the connection process, and what is needed to enable it within your iManage Cloud tenant.
⚠️ DMS Availability: Document Management System connectivity is included as part of dhConnect, dealhead's integration service that also includes Single Sign-On (SSO). To learn more about dhConnect or to add it to your organization's subscription, contact [email protected]. Once your dhConnect subscription is active, the dealhead team will coordinate DMS onboarding with your IT team using this guide.
Integration Architecture
dealhead is designed to integrate with multiple DMS providers, including iManage, NetDocuments, Dropbox, and OneDrive, so that every organization participating in a Project can simultaneously synchronize documents to its own system. To support this, dealhead works with specialist integration partners who have deep, certified relationships with each DMS platform. For iManage, that partner is Blue Car Technologies ("BCT"), a well established iManage Technology Partner.
The data flow is: dealhead → Integration Hub → DMS (iManage Cloud)
All communication with your iManage environment is handled by BCT's Integration Hub, which manages authentication, API communication, and document transfer using iManage's standard integration framework. dealhead does not access your iManage environment directly.
Documents flow from dealhead into iManage and are placed into a workspace and folder structure configured by your team at the Project level within dealhead. Version history, naming conventions, and metadata are maintained automatically as documents progress through their lifecycle.

Authentication & Security
The integration uses OAuth 2.0, which is iManage's standard authorization framework for all third-party applications that interact with iManage Work. OAuth 2.0 ensures that:
User credentials are never shared with or stored by dealhead or the Integration Hub
All communication occurs over HTTPS using token-based authorization
Access tokens are scoped and time-limited, with refresh mechanisms to maintain continuity
Your IT team retains full control over which users are authorized to use the integration
This is the same authentication model used by all authorized third-party applications within iManage, including those from iManage's own product suite.
Enabling the Integration
Enabling the dealhead integration within your iManage Cloud environment follows iManage standard process for activating third-party applications. An administrator with access to iManage Control Center performs the following:
# | Action |
1 | Log in to cloudimanage.com and navigate to Control Center |
2 | Select 'Applications' from the left-hand navigation bar |
3 | Locate 'Blue Car Technologies – iManage Integration Hub' from the list of available authorized applications |
4 | Click the ... menu and select 'Edit Security' |
5 | Grant access to the appropriate users or groups (either all users, or specific users via the custom option), then click 'Save' |
This is a one-time administrative action. Once the application is enabled and users are granted access, the Integration Hub is authorized to communicate with your iManage environment on behalf of those users. No additional software installation is required.
💡 Tip: dealhead can provide more detailed documentation for this process if needed. A visual walkthrough document is available upon request.
What Happens After Enablement
Once the Integration Hub is enabled in your iManage tenant, your team members can configure DMS synchronization at the Project level within dealhead. This involves selecting the target workspace in iManage where Project documents should be archived. From that point, documents are synchronized automatically as they are created and managed within the platform.
Your organization's Administrator within dealhead can manage the DMS connection settings, and individual Project teams select the target workspaces for their respective matters.
Responsibility | Owner |
Enable the Integration Hub in iManage | Your IT team (iManage Control Center admin) |
Configure the DMS connection in dealhead | Your Organization Administrator in dealhead |
Select target workspace per Project | Authenticated Project Team members |
Ongoing document synchronization | Automatic (managed by dealhead + Integration Hub) |
